June 2017 To-Do List

The sun is shining, exams are almost over and summer is just starting. What better time in the year than now to enjoy different activities in the culture haven that is our town.

Performance poetry -8th of June – Espacio Gallery

Performance poetry organized by Renee Rilexie will explore the hidden depths of layers using spoken word poetry and subtle linguistic techniques to fully explore this topic. Not only is performance poetry enjoyable to listen to but often it has a powerful message and that is just one of the reasons why you should attend this event. Another reason is that it is free, and all the sweetest things in life are always free.

Admission: Free – 3-5pm
159 Bethnal Green Road, London, E2 7DG

Live and Acoustic with Tom Price-Stephens – 16th June – The Gallery café

The Gallery Café welcomes Tom Price-Stephens to be the host of the event as well as performing himself. He has also handpicked Martha Paton to perform. Paton is a singer/songwriter who uses clever lyrics and catchy melodies in a combination of pop, country and folk music to great effect. Whilst Price-Stephens is also an extremely talented musician, who has songs full of stories but lets his husky, powerful voice dominate the songs.

Admission: Free – 7pm
St. Margaret’s House Settlement, 21 Old Ford Rd, Bethnal Green, London E2 9PL

Baba the Bad Baboon – 29th June – Rich Mix

This is a new musical for children by Samoan composer Sani Muliaumaseali’I. As there are so many events for adults it is often easy to forget that there ae many events that take place aimed at children, for them to enjoy and learn in an interactive way. Without giving too much away, this musical is set in the animal kingdom and uses songs and dance to engage the children whilst using the story to show what consequences actions can have. It is a musical that all children will enjoy and engage with.

Tickets: £10.00 – 4pm
35-47 Bethnal Green Rd, London E1 6LA
