Our Networking Breakfast went off without a hitch! Thank you to those who came out! And if you missed it, not to worry- we put together a recap of what went on. Also, whether you attended or not, please fill out our survey to help shape the future of Love Bethnal Green!
There were about 30 people who stopped in.
Catherine Ritman-Smith, head of Learning and Engagement at the Young V&A, warmly welcomed us to the space.
John Ryan gave a bit of history of the Love Bethnal Green (LBG) project, speaking to how it was started as a platform to bring positive attention to the area by showcasing local businesses, organizations, and people. The aim of LBG is to act as a bridge, bringing people together- business owners, organizations, market vendors, and the council.

We highlighted Hostelle, a women-only hostel in Bethnal Green- the first and only in London! We were graced by founder Bianca Brasdorp and her wonderful staff, who spoke about the various monthly creative activities, trips, and events they coordinate and how they’ve created a safe space for women travelers. Be sure to check out their website and Instagram! (There are also locations in Amsterdam and Barcelona!)

Throughout the event, we encouraged people to mark where they are on a map of the area:

We also wanted to know everyone’s favorite places in and around Bethnal Green:

Folks also had the opportunity to share any ideas they have about how Love Bethnal Green can strengthen the local network of businesses and organizations:

They named:
- Collaborations
- Creating content that can be shared online consistently from organizations (scheduled/themed)
- More of these networking opportunities.
- Improving the environment – less sticky shutter stickers, clean up graffiti.
- More networking opportunities
- A place to share different groups/organisations upcoming events
- SEN community center
- Creating a circular economy within Bethnal Green
