September 2017 – To Do List

September 1, 2017

The weather is getting colder and gloomier every day, and with many of us coming back from sun-filled holidays it can feel quite dismal. However, we are here to help and have picked out the best events happening in Bethnal Green this September, to make life feel exciting again, despite the cold weather.

Philosophy Café – 6th September – St Margaret’s House (chapel)

The philosophy café is one of St Margaret’s House’s most popular events. The theme of the café this month is ‘Why we bother with philosophy?’ This question is one that comes up often in philosophy, whether you feel philosophy is simply for academics, or whether you feel there is a purpose that goes beyond academia, come to St Margaret’s House and share your thoughts in an open discussion.
Free admission, 19.00-21.00
St. Margaret’s House, 21 Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green, E2 9PL

Subduction Zone – 9th September – Rich Mix

Subduction zone is a cutting-edge music and dance production exploring identity. The story is based upon a Sri-Lankan Tamil woman, born and raised in the East End of London and deals with issues such as racism, feminism and cultural appropriation through the medium of performance. The show promises to be incredible as it will combine South Indian Classical Music with genres of Western Music such as grime so it is something everyone can enjoy.

7.30pm – 35-47 Bethnal Green Rd, London E1 6LA
