Definition: A chiringuito (also known as a guingueta in Catalan, or, by influence of Spanish, a xiringuito) is a relaxed, informal enterprise, usually a bar, selling drinks, tapas and small plates – often in a temporary structure.

Perched on top of the old park toilet block that was empty for years, the latest addition to east London’s growing restaurant scene, Chiringuito, is a fabulous space with a great rooftop area. As they say, ‘it brings a relaxed beach bar vibe to a corner of Bethnal Green’s iconic Museum Gardens.’

Nestled next to the splendid Grade I listed St John’s church the roof-top terrace and patio provides the perfect setting for a unique fusion of East London charm with Spanish and Latin inspired dishes.
