The net may be littered with deals of cheap flights and even cheaper hotels, but why settle for a frankly questionable youth hostel when you can get more bang for your buck a little more local? Yes, the weather’s a little precarious, but there is generally a bit more shine than rain at the moment, and there’s plenty on at Bethnal Green this week.

New Exhibition Alert – Tuesday 19th July // City Lit Fine Art Course Exhibition @ Espacio Gallery
This Tuesday, why not head over to an LBG favourite – the Espacio Gallery. Showcasing works from City Lit Fine Art students, the exhibition focuses on introspection: mental and physical health, personal journeys and self-image. As with other exhibitions shown in this space, the idea is to encourage thought and to also promote the work of emerging artists. Known for its friendly vibe and well-curated pieces, it’s fair to say that the Espacio Gallery focuses more on the art and the message and less on the pretence.

Good Old Fun – Wednesday 20th July // Pub Quiz @ The Old George Pub
Beautiful British weather calls for great British tradition. What’s more traditional than a pub quiz? The Old George is a lasting symbol of an older Bethnal Green; the pub dates back to the 1700s and was renovated in 2013 by Antic. Featuring two floors and the prized beer garden, the Old George can offer you something new on a Wednesday night. The spot is pet and child friendly and an ideal location to enjoy a pint with friends. The quiz is hardly if ever short on numbers, so reserving a table is advised. Don’t say we didn’t tell you so.

Tell Me More – Saturday 23rd July // Grease-Inspired Party @ The Gallery Café
We’re excited to tell you about this one. Heard of The Gallery Café? We featured them on our Bethnal Green goes Vegan post. They are hosting a Grease-Inspired party this Saturday from 7:30pm. That’s right, calling all Pink Lady and Thunderbird prospects: the time has come to show off those moves. These nostalgia-filled nights are an endearing part of the modern east London scene and are a delightful departure from the sometimes cliché and often overpriced nightclubs. Ticket price includes one drink and live music from The Boo Hoos. Did someone say, wop baba lumop a wap bam boom?
Tickets: £10
